Scopes Trial Proceeds

In the last few days, Mr.Drummond has been defending his right to teach evolution in the classroom. His opponent Mr.Brady, brought the bible to the table to fight this case against the teaching of evolution. Right off the bat Mr.Drummond brought to the table evidence of a 10 million year old rock, he claiming that the bible is wrong in saying that the world is only 4 thousand years old due to the age of the rock. Mr.Drummond then came with another attack but this one was of a personal nature, calling him the "Prophet of Nebraska" in a mocking manor. As he proceeded with these attacks the judge did nothing to stop Mr.Drummond, leaving Mr.Brady on the back step until he broke down. The trial was adjourned for the day to let tempers cool until it would proceed at 10 o'clock the next morning.

我們今天在 Hillsboro，Tennessee。今天的法院案件是 Drummond（保護） 對 Brady（檢察官）。外面有很多猴子。 每一個海報都寫：“你不能打真相， 聖經的謊言， 你是猴子嗎？” 個位， 沒想到 Drummond 竟然 會教孩子們 Darwin 的理論。 他還說 “我們一定要離開我們的信仰”。但是， Brady 反對得說， “我們不能夠離開神的信仰 ”。 從一開始， 大家都覺得 Drummond 是個傻瓜因為那些陪審團都覺得他不知道他在胡說什麼。但是， Drummond 竟然是個聰明的律師。 他開始攻擊 Brady 的時候，因為 Drummond 的海綿理論會讓人家覺得 Drummond 不是瘋狂，陪審團就開始支持 Drummond。Drummond 還沒說完了話。 接下來， Drummond 開始問 Brady 他覺得一塊石頭應該有多少歲月。 每個陪審團看起來很困惑。 但是，從 Drummond 的第二個參數， 我們開始知道聖經沒有每一個答案因為聖經也沒有寫我們的世界是如何做得。從一開是， 大家都跟者 Brady 是同一國的。 到了最後，大家才覺得 Drummond 有意思。因為 Brady 沒有路可跑， 他就開始說出了每個聖經裡面的名字（好像還不放棄）。但是，Drummond 就回答問大家，“為什麼 Cates 是在監獄裡呢？”

El juicio de Scopes

Hoy en día, tuvimos un caso de prueba grande entre los grandes Drummond coronel y mr. Brady. La sensación en la sala de audiencias de hoy fue una tensión muy gruesa, como todo el mundo sabía que era un caso muy importante. Drummondsalió listo y desde el momento en que comenzó el juicio, él era realmente ponerBrady en el banquillo. Discutían y discutían, con Drummond continuamente haciendo preguntas Brady no pudo contestar. Por ejemplo, cuando Drummond se preguntaacerca de cómo Brady está tan seguro de que la tierra es sólo 6000 años de antigüedad. Brady única respuesta es que la Biblia así lo dice. Drummond, conpreguntas como estas, era fácil para él conseguir Brady nervioso y le han comenzar a decir exactamente lo que quería Drummond. En general, todo el caso de hoy fue muy emocionante y muy divertido a costa del Sr. Brady. Estoy deseando de ver la siguiente parte de este caso ya que es realmente muy divertido y dinámico, gracias a las personalidades de los dos abogados. Esto es todo lo que tenemos de la audiencia de hoy, así que asegúrese de comprobar de nuevo más tarde para másde la controversial juicio de Scopes.

Welcome to U.S. History Blog (A)

Greetings and welcome to our new class blog.  We begin with a series of articles from students in the class. These "reporters" observed the proceedings of the famous "monkey trial" of John Scopes, a Biology teacher (1925).  We read parts of INHERIT THE WIND - a play based on Mr. Scopes' trial.  Students wrote their articles in a variety of language as an international press corps covered this trial. Other students in the class were asked to read any one of the articles and make comments on it (using the COMMENT feature of this blog.)
