Recently, there have been studies for gaps that are forming about education between the rich and the poor.
From the recent published scholarship, it has been showing that the gap has been growing wider between the rich and poor over time. Overtime, it has been showing that there has been high percentage of students from high income family completing college compared to students from low income family. Most common reasoning behind this creation of huge gap is that parents with high income invest more money on their children. The parents would invest a lot of money on their children, such as sports, tutors, and many other after school activities. This wasn't the only problem, another problem has been occurring such as cultural divide. According to studies, educated people tend to marry other educated people. Another type of results found after study was that children below age of 6 from high income family spends more time out of home and instead at places at day care centers. Also, meaning kids from high income family below age of 6 tend to have high activity hours then kids from low income. Overall, the gaps can continue to get bigger as the economy struggles.
i definitely agree that there's gap between rich and poor. In fact, now days we have even more obvious differentiation between them. The rich gets richer, the poor gets poorer. The education will definitely be effected by the influence. i agree that parents would invest more money on their children because every parents wants their kids to perform well in school. On the other hand, the poor will definitely have some disadvantage because in today's society, people need money to survive. Without money, children cant go to school, can't play the sport they want, and can't make friends.

DeleteThe situation in the article happens to nations worldwildly. there are so many examples in Asia that students form rich families get better cares from the schools and teachers, and they always have big egos and make funs on classmates with poor background. People always said that schools are like small societies, all the discriminations & social gaps can also happen in schools. if these gaps can't be fix, our education system will go so wrong in the future.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that there is such a difference in education completion between the wealthy and the poor is really surprising. Even from such a young age as 6, they are already set up to not do as well as a higher income family, not being able to do as many activities. If something isn't done about this soon, there can be a huge problem for the children of low income families. It'll be interesting to see the affects on their education as the economy improves or drops in the coming years.
